I don't need to tell anyone that racism is still a massive problem in this country. You could seriously just look at sites like World Star Hip Hop, any local news website or just walk outside as anyone who isn't a white dude. With that said, some of the more ridiculous and sneaky ways racism gets into our culture is through how we produce, consume and even try to stop people from consuming media. This ranges from cops being offended at NWA for saying "fuck the police" in the 1980's in response to the LAPD targeting minority communities and abusing people, to the LAPD still being offended by NWA for having a biopic that points out that the current environment of black people in particular not trusting the cops due to a string of unarmed people being killed by police officers on power trips. It's to the point that even TMZ is calling the cops bitter and resentful for being upset about an unflattering, yet true portrayal of life in southern California during the 80's to mid 90's. Adding to this is CNN, who being the bastions of fantastic journalism that they are, being absolutely shocked that black people aren't going on a rampage after spending $60.2 million over the weekend watching the pretty fantastic biopic of a rap group that I was probably conceived to. Watch below as apparently after almost 3 decades no one in, or supporting law enforcement in southern California listened to the song "Fuck the police" after the first half of the first lyric in the song. Also, it's racist to put tons of extra security at a movie aimed towards black audiences, but not at say "Trainwreck" or any of the Batman movies given the violence around both films.
